Rescuers from the Apex Animal Rescue Team spent the weekend carrying out daring rescues high in the trees at a South Yorkshire forest.
It was all part of the Yorkshire Rose Challenge, an adventure competition for South Yorkshire Scouts. Around thirty teams battled the heat while completing a range of challenges, including a special rescue activity provided by the Apex Challenge team.
The teams had to rescue the amazing tree-climbing cow, Pat from high up in the canopy – scaling ladders and tackling a tough ropes course on the way.
For the Apex Challenge volunteers it was great to spend the day providing activities for the younger Scout age group, rather than Explorers who usually take part in Apex events.
The team also used the day to come up with new ideas for the next Apex Challenge event, taking place in North Yorkshire in October. Entries open next month.
