2013 Apex Intense

May 2013
Scouttastic
Don Valley Stadium

Around 3000 Scouts spent all day at South Yorkshire’s Scouttastic event and almost 300 teams took part in our new challenge which involved a race against time around a dramatic series of obstacles and control points.

For the first time the Apex Challenge was open to Beavers as well as Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Each age group had a different task. After tackling the first half of the assault course the individual challenges began. 25 control points were scattered throughout the playing area, numbered 1-15 and then a further 10 Hot Spots. Any team punching their electronic tag in a Hot Spot control instantly failed their mission.

Beavers needed to find 10 differently numbered control points. Cubs needed to find all 15 numbered control points. Scouts had to find control points 1-10 in numerical order and Explorers had to find all 15 control points in numerical order.
