This year's Apex Challenge is being held on the Ampleforth Estate in North Yorkshire. While there is plenty of parking available on site for those taking part (for cars and minibuses), we would like to encourage as many teams as possible to car share to cut down on the number of vehicles used.

The event centre is in a field within the estate grounds (SE 590767). Access is via Pottergate, a road that runs west from the village of Gilling East (SE 615770). You should aim to arrive on site from 6pm on Friday 11 October. If you arrive before that time we may not be ready to start signing you in.

The postal address for this event is Apex Challenge Event Centre, Pottergate, Gilling East, YO62 4HP.

Head to the village of Gilling East using the postcode YO62 4HP. There is no other way to event centre other than through Gilling East (signposted simply as Gilling on road signs).

  • Head west down Pottergate, which runs down the side of the Fairfax Arms pub.
  • Pass the village hall on your right and Ampleforth College Golf Clup on your left.
  • Further down the road you will pass Park House Barns (now a chocolate shop) on your right. Keep going.
  • Follow the road as it bends around to the right at a small lay-by. Apex Event Centre is in the field straight ahead on the right hand side of the track.

Sat Nav:

If you are following the satnav to get to the event use the postcode YO62 4HP. This will take you to the start of the road in Gilling East. From here, follow the signs and instructions above to get to the site.

Note: If travelling from the north or west, your sat nav may direct you along the A170 at Sutton Bank. This is a very steep hill, not suitable for coaches or heavy trailers. It is worth checking your route before you set off.

After you have parked:

We will have a one-way system in operation within the event centre area. Please follow the signs to the event area where parking is available. If dropping teams off, you will then be guided out of the park along a further one-way system. When you have arrived, head for event centre. The team inside there will be able to sign you in and let you know where you can put up your tents.

Arrangements for Sunday:

The event will finish by 4pm. For any parents or carers picking up team members please follow the same instructions to enter and leave the area.
